Prof. Arul Arulrajah graduated with a BSc from Purdue University (USA) in 1992, MEngSc from University of Malaya in 2003 and PhD (Geotechnical Engineering) from Curtin University (Australia) in 2005. Prof. Arulrajah joined Swinburne in 2006 after 14 years of prior industry experience in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia in the design, site implementation and project management of civil engineering infrastructure projects. His current research focus is on recycled materials in geotechnical engineering applications, in particular for the geotechnics of pavements and ground improvement. Prof. Arulrajah has been involved as a Chief Investigator in 30 research projects totalling approximately AUD$11.5 million. He is the recipient of several awards including the Australian Pavement Recycling Association award (2018 and 2012), Telford Premium Prize, UK (2010) and the Shamsher Prakash Prize, USA (2010). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia and a Chartered Professional Engineer (Australia).
