Professor Mahamadi is the inaugural Director of the Research and Postgraduate Centre at Bindura University of Science Education, Zimbabwe, since 2010. He holds a PhD in Chemistry, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, and BSc (Hons) in Chemistry. He was promoted to an Associate Professor of Environmental Analytical Chemistry in 2014 and became a Full Professor in 2021. Professor Mahamadi has significant experience in collaborative research and has participated as a visiting researcher at several Institutions, including University of Cape Town, University of Botswana and University of Port Harcourt. Most of his research efforts have focused on the development of alternative adsorbents for the removal of toxic metals from water. He is recipient of a number of competitive grants, including those funded by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the International Foundation for Science (IFS), and the Southern and Eastern Africa Network of Analytical Chemists (SEANAC). Prof Mahamadi has also been involved in a number of projects of national significance including auditing of the Natural and Applied Sciences Cluster during Zimbabwe National Critical Skills Audit (2018) and leading the diagnostic study of the status of STEM Education in Zimbabwe in 2016. Prof Mahamadi is a recipient of several national and international awards in recognition of his research excellence. In 2012, he was awarded the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Awards for Scientific Excellence (AUKNASE)-Young Scientist for Zimbabwe. He was also awarded the 2015 Research Council of Zimbabwe Outstanding Scientist in Natural and Environmental Science. Prof Mahamadi was also honoured with the BUSE Vice Chancellor Best Publisher of the Year Award for 2012 and the BUSE Vice Chancellor Grantee of the Year Award for 2013. Prof Mahamadi has published more than 40 research papers in various international journals of repute and has presented research papers at more than 20 international Conferences.
