Dr. Kwong received his PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is currently a senior lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Dr Kwong specializes in air pollution control, waste recycling, catalysis and thermochemical conversion of biomass. He is particularly interested in converting various waste material into value-added functional materials and renewable energy products. He has made significant achievement in developing advanced waste management technologies through supports from government and industry partners in Australia. He has published more than 50 articles in high-impact journals, peer reviewed conferences, and technical reports in the field of chemical and environmental engineering. He was awarded an invitation fellowship by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science for the conversion of wet biomass into functional materials using hydrothermal carbonization. He is also the co-founder for a spin-out company developing a commercial-scale biomass conversion technology for low-cost activated carbon and bioenergy co-productions.
